Show iron county F S A committeemen named four iron county far farmers mers have been appointed by secretary of agriculture ri claude to work with county supervisor 0 elwood manwaring and associate supervisor devona griffiths in maintaining and expanding the food production increases achieved by small farmers in the program in n this county city and harvey adams of parowan carowan the committeemen all successful farmers are harvey adams paro wan myron J jones and grani gram hunter of cedar city with rulon esplin also of cedar as alternate committeeman they will advise with supervisor manwaring and assist with activities of the program in the past the county staff has been advised by the rural rehabilitation committee a farm debt deb adjustment committee and a farm arm ownership committee members from these three committees together with the three members at large made up the county advisory council the new all purpose committee will continue the committee functions prescribed by the bankhead jones farm tenancy act certifying the eligibility of applicants and the reasonable value of farms in making farm ownership loans A new responsibility of the committee i will be t to 0 determine the eligibility of applicants for rural rehabilitation 1 loans and their need for assistance in addition the corn com cittee will each year review the progress and status of all rural rehabilitation borrowers whose loans loam have been outstanding for three or more full crop years the committee will also assist F S A supervisors and borrowers in carrying out the farm debt adjustment and tenure improvement program and in general serve in al advisory capacity in all county operations under a rotation plan one of the members will go out of office each year and a successor will be appointed one of the first jobs of the new county committee will be to help the supervisors carry through an immediate and searching review of every active standard rehabilitation borrower to determine how each family can contribute most to the nations food supply in 1944 this analysis is expected to bring out 1 approximate shifts or increases in production of war crops that farm security borrowers can make 2 types of adjustments in land tenure and farm layout that will be necessary 3 need for storage facilities equipment quIP ment for planting cultivating or harvesting crops marketing facilities cili ties etc 4 approximate amounts of loan funds that present borrowers will require for 1944 production prod action borrowers and other farmers I 1 of f ion county are invited to discuss otheir heir farming fanning activities with the county committeemen and supervisor per visor in an effort to assist the food production program |
