draft boards board the navy has already taken steps to place into effect the anew new manpower policy outlined by the select selective avi service the senate approved and sent to conference legislation providing for drafting the 18 and 19 year olds but prohibiting their assignment to combat duty until they have ham completed one years training in this country the senate bill also provides provid vid that ional deferments deter ments would be limited to high school students in the last half of thew their academic year farmers and farm labor w would be deferred iid fr from military service wherever their induction would curtail agricultural production u until 0 til replacements could be found and men would be exempted from selective service induction ate after they have passed their birthday farm labor supply in order to alleviate is a sho shortage ge ot of essential far farm workers which h is a threatening the dewy dairy livestock and poultry production necessary
