Show fishing season to open sunday morning the 1942 fishing season opens next sunday morning at 5 a in ml I 1 with anglers facing the highest waters they have encountered in years this is true all over the state according to reports with an all the lakes filled to capacity and running over and many of the streams still in flood stage but prospects of a banner year seem good with the state fish and game commission inaugurating a big planting schedule so far no fish have been planted in local reservoirs but there seems to be evidence of some left from last year in parowan carowan vicinity the streams are rapidly getting back to normal and should make pretty good fishing especially the creek coming from the yankee where so many fish escaped the lakes in this section are all full of water with the panguitch lake especially high this lake has been made larger by raising the dam but the water is again running over it and the yankee has been running over for two months or more and the water in the navajo lake is way up over the dike but with a promise of more fish there than in years past there will be restricted fishing at both the yankee and panguitch lake at the latter place the waters are closed out in front of the dam for 1000 feet and the creek for 2600 feet below is closed what distances above and below the dam at the yankee are closed known but they will be posted saturday and all fishermen are warned to keep out of the restricted areas A game warden to be responsible for the yankee and vicinity has been appointed to work under the supervision of district warden flaude claude macfarlane also six six or eight spec special 1 aai wardens will be on hand to watch for game violators and in addition a guard win will be on hand to keep a watch over the dam and he has authority to keep everyone off the closed waters the same thing will be true at pan duitch lake with everyone being urged to give those in charge as little trouble as possible |
