Show from rom where I 1 sit is t y joe marsh RUMMAGING through my desk the other day I 1 came across some snapshots of friends of mine made back in 1933 if you dont think time flies if you dont think this world ever changes you ought to look at the hats and dresses in those pictures taken 9 years ago wow it gave me quite a start and then it set me to thinking and remember remembering in lots of things sure happened in 1933 A new administration ad inis in washington the turning point of the depression and the coming of repeal 1 I remember the re legalization of beer be cr it came before repeal when congress amended the old act to allow legal sale of 32 beer what talk and arguments they had in those days one argument I 1 remember well was that beer would do a lot to help bring back prosperity I 1 wondered at tw the time whether that argument could be proved I 1 thought about that again the other day I 1 decided to check up and find out well I 1 found out plenty 1 found out that legal beer has paid more than 3 billion n dollars in taxes since 1933 it has made more than a million new jobs according to one of the reports ive seen beer has put more than 15 billion dollars into general business circulation goodness bep mep me a lot of money beer is sold today in every state in the union every state benefits from beers jobs and taxes and I 1 guess theres no denying that beer did do its share in bringing back better times im glad it did too because beer is such a pleasant appetizing beverage and it stands for moderation and moderate people its is not likely to get you in trouble tron ble abc 4 A IV no 36 of a series copyright Copy risi 1942 brewing industry foundation |
