Show co defence bond sale committee organized eighteen representatives from parowan carowan attended a special defense bond and stamp sale meeting in cedar city last sunday evening the meeting was called caged by former governor chas R mabey tor for the purpose of completing an organization in iron county to promote the sale of defense bonds and stamps the county organization was completed during the evening with lehi W jones as county chairman and morgan rollo also of cedar city as secretary of the committee other members are arthur joseph of par owan H E dunton of paragonah Para gonah parley E anderson of cedar city win graft graff of Ka narra W F armstrong of enoch thomas lund modena oscar hulet Sum summit mitI kumen gardner newcastle and D M carroll of lund the committee from parowan carowan consists of arthur joseph chairman A B matheson vice chairman and mrs 4 J adams secretary and treasurer mr mabey pointed out that since the sale of bonds and stamps started the per capita purchases over the nation was 4 and that the average for iron county was only lys per capita he urged the adoption of the payroll plan of purchase be adopted by employers where ever possible pointing out that such a plan would make it possible for each employee to purchase a bond on the install ment basis that mat is his employed empl emp loyet oyei would be authorized by him to hold a certain part of his earnings every pay period and that when enough had accumulated that a bond be purchased in the names of the employee and turned over to him the plan is of an entirely voluntary nature ang and Js is not at all binding to either employee or employer either being able to break the agreement at any time he wishes mr mabey told the committee that there were three types of bonds available the first or class E bond being an interest bearing bond and available to individuals only and the class F and G bonds being appreciation bonds the class E bond was made available to individuals only for a threefold three fold purpose first to finance the war second as a protection against inflation and third the protection of the individual against the expected period of depression that will follow the war making the class E bonds available to individuals will also tend to stop the de speculating in them by large finance houses and prevent corn co merin crin of them and keep their maturity price at the same par value as the bond specifies A second meeting has been called for march in the cedar city high school auditorium at which more details regarding bond sales will be given by mr mabey all those who possibly can should attend this meeting |
