Show exchange club adds T tc christmas pr prize e money mone to auga augment ent parowan carowan cites prize of 1000 to t 0 be given this year for the best christmas lighting or outside decoration scheme the paro wan exchange club appropriated an additional to be given as second and third prizes to those people whose decorations win the judges approval this money will be given for second and for third i though none of the prizes offered will more than pay for the cost of decorating it is hoped by the club that the additional prizes will wili stimulate more interest on the part of townspeople to decorate and thus add to the christmas spirit with free electricity being given by the city there is not a family in town who cant put up a few lights around their premises and add to the appearance of the town tow n at this I 1 season judges for this lighting and decor abing contest will be named by the city council at a meeting sometime next week and their say will be final what will be looked for in judging the contest known at 1 this time but by next week we nat 1 hope to be able to give this information I 1 the remainder of the time at the I 1 exchange club meeting at which the above action took place andl and which was held in the fenton phar neacy coffee pot was spent in discussing the proposal for closing second north street for an addition to the athletic field H L adams ano was instructed by the club at its meeting two weeks ago to contact the state road commission in regards to moving the secondary high way which enters the town irom from the west on this street reported that he had called at ike m mission office but had been unable to contact mr hammond or mr pet ersen L B bennett reported that he le had called at the office last week end and talked with mr knowlton and had been int informed ormed that if th people of the city wanted the street closed it could be done by the city ile he also stated that mr gillies district engineer had been instructed by the road commission to make a survey of the project and to t 0 submit drawings to the commission mayor arthur joseph told members that unless he could be convinced more fully of the necessity of such a procedure he was not in favor of the closing and he was backed up by ivan decker who pointed out that the cost of such a change would be more trian man me ine value to be gained and also suggested that the project would be more of an eyesore eye sore to the community than a benefit he suggested that a vote be taken from the whole community before any plans were laid john H pendleton ana fir ir een cn nett were also in favor of the closing as a safety measure for school children who will be using the athletic field and crossing from one campus to the other during the school year wm marsden and S J ward met with the club in their interest as property owners along the street |
