Show final rites held for heart attack victim I 1 funeral services services were held thurs iday day afternoon in the east ward chapel for arthur S petersen 57 who died monday of a heart attack while attending a race meet in billings montana the services were under the direction of bishop W L adams and commenced with the combined choirs singing sometime well understand under the direction of ivan deckler and accompanied compa nied by mary lyman the opening prayer was offered by joseph stevens after after which the choir sang though deepening trials george stevens was the first speaker after which a male quartet consisting of ormon R weight W clair rowley ray D garner and ivan decker sang goin coin home with lyle marsden at the piano john P orton was the last speaker after whish ray D garner and rula D orton sang whispering ing hope accompanied on the piano by berta mitchell closing remarks were offered by bishop adams after which the choir sang that beautiful land as the closing song david richards pronounced the benediction and at the cemetery the grave was dedicated by ancil J adams the beau ticul floral offerings were taken care of by lady friends of the family with mrs merrill thornton and mrs wm T orton in charge pall bearers were thomas george and robert fowler brothers of mrs petersen and C R cruse delmer davis and lund prince sons in law of the deceased mr petersen a breeder and trainer of fine horses for many years had taken one of his horses to the montana meet and was racing it there when death kame 1 ame he had not been well for s veral several e years being afflicted with asthma and a 1 bad heart but was feeling somewhat better this spring and having a fast horse h orse he decided to take him into montana to race what caused the sudden heart attack known he was born in big pines california on december 14 1883 a sot son of mr and mrs magnus petersen in 1900 he moved with his family to benjamin utah and later to par owan where he has since resided i he was married to edna fowler of parowan carowan on may 29 1911 and six children all of whom survive survive were born to them survivors are besides mrs petersen five daughters mrs C R cruse of los angeles mrs delmer davis ot of ced cedar ar city mrs lund prince of las vegas nevada bertha and anna mae petersen and one son magnus arthur petersen of parowan carowan Pa rowan five grandchildren his mother of long beach calif two brothers wm stanley of long beach and paul of jackson calif one sister mrs iva G burtt of denver colo two half brothers jack earl of san pedro and haskell earl of long beach and two half sisters mrs bessie E squires of long beach and mrs elva stephens of san diego C caile aalf |
