Show DOINGS AT SCHOOL reported by marc ian e edwards ft florian matheson what the parowan carowan high school did at the vocational meet at the B A C two weeks ago SHORTHAND thelma thclma lamor raux paux and joan robb won the word gregg shorthand certificate this is quite an accomplishment and all other shorthand students are arc looking forward to the time when they may win the same amard ard bookkeeping the team on bookkeeping made a fine showing on vocational day donald dalton placed fourth in the contest and he and sheldon edwards were the higher acorin scoring contestants from parowan carowan Pa rowan the team average wai out of a possible ible placing sixth in in a group of about twelve teams typewriting parowan carowan placed 3rd ard as a team in the first year typewriting contests for production and speed with a score of mary belle fenton an alternate produced a score of 45 words per minute which should have facea her second in the contest however she was not listed as such on the official B A C tabulation ther then was no explanation given as to why she was not hot rated she came second in speed and accuracy and also in ii production with a score of as compared with the next highest of I 1 HOME ECONOMICS a demonstration by joan garner evaleen hulcy and norma lemmon received a highly superior rating industrial ARTS parowan carowan boys made a VC very ry creditable showing in a group of 30 or more in the r industrial dusi rial arts contests ross holland teacher of spanish at the U S A C gave a most ini te resting talk to the P H S student L nt body wednesday on various various phases of life in south america it was illustrated with various souvenirs collected on his trip mr hol hoi land also sang two popular songs in the spanish language those who hoard lc ard him enjoyed his talk immensely men sely especially the way he his lecture with a form of humorous speech entirely his ii S own the parowan carowan high has been fortunate in obtaining the utah artists I 1 council traveling ng exhibit for display here the ical lection contains both creative and naturalistic paintings done by utah artists persons interested may call at the school any time during next week where they are on display in the various arious rooms the home economics club is sponsoring a tea next thursday for the purpose of showing parents and patrons this fine and very worth chile art exhibit all in all parowan carowan high school made a very good showing on vocational cat eat ional day |
