Show parowan carowan city tax levy set betat at 22 mills A tax levy of 22 mills on the d dol of lar of assessed valuation on property in cili wac wa levied by b the council at its meeting on tuesday night this is a cut of 3 mills from last gears ears levy which was 25 mills and d divided IV aided as follows follow s general fund 5 mills sinking fund 65 mills interest on bonds 65 mills I 1 streets and sidewalks 5 mil mills Is and library 2 mills in this years levy the sinking fund is included in the bond and interest fund set at 55 mills two new items have been incorporated corp orated in the levy as follows follow the city building fund 3 mills and the city park fund 15 mills all oth er avis itma ining the same 1 uj I last year A break down of the levies for 1939 and 1940 are as follows fund 1939 general fund 50 sinking fund 65 dond bond and interest fund 65 streets and sidewalks 5 0 library 20 fund lo 10 general fund 50 bond and interest fund 55 streets and sidewalks 50 city buildings 30 city park 15 library fund 20 A group of citizens who live on main street met with the council and asked that no parking signs f be painted on the entrance to their r I 1 driveways explaining that at certain times of the day it is impossible for them to get in and out of their driveways without first moving so car the city marshal was instructed to have this done as well as having the same kind of signs painted in front of fire hydrants along main street councilman L J adams told the council that the state would furnish traffic signal lamps and equipment to be placed at intersections if the city would be responsible for having them put up no action was taken on the matter however the streets and sidewalks committie committee approved a project for improving some bridges and culverts cu lverts in in town and for beautifying the city park to the extent of demov j ing the weeds and rubbish from it i R L halterman foreman of the I 1 city light plant met with the group and asked that some repairs bo be made at the plant but was I 1 deferred until a later date |
