regular february meeting on tuesday with an adjourned session on wednesday morning the latter in cedar city all members of the board together r with the clerk sheriff treasur er r attorney and assessor were in attendance I 1 about six thousand dollars of county road funds were allocated for expenditure on county roads with seven thousand being held in reserve for possible emergencies and the purchase of additional f e including probably a tumble bug for removing dirt the allocation included for road construction over summit mountain at the request of local livestock men whose idea it is to have the road eventually connet connect with the dry lakes road constructed last fall and the parowan carowan mam main canyon road in the upper end end ot f bear flat falit members of the parowan carowan exchange clubs road committee including ivan decker L J adams and J W moore requested thit that the county take the initiative in an eff effort ort to get some road construction st rt from the forest boand boundary near jinny beck flat to the head of the mammoth the matter was discussed with forest supervisor bettenson Bet who was at the meeting and commissioner Commissio bulloch was instructed to confer with state road officials in an effort to get cooperative cooperative action the ire exchange club committee also alpo urged consideration of other roads in this end of the county including the first left hand canyon road to the yankee a connection from the little creek horse valley road to paragonah Para gonah reservoir and a number of others A delegation of parowan carowan valley farmers including wilford day deleyre mel eyre thomas fowler robert fowler M E trimmer earl NI mathson athson harrell dalton and walter stubbs asked for improvement of the road running north froni from the wallace hulet harrell dalton cor corners ners to the mel iel eyre property on the slough ben bench ch the m matter a thor was referred to commissioner adams for appropriate action A letter from james C parry manager na nager of the county hospital renewing his request for an in rease in salary from to a month and tendering his resignation ignation es effective at the end of ced r city chamber of commerce including president L nelson marsden vice president lyman E sevy and M J urie met will the board bo ird to renew the request that the county appropriate to help acl pay indebtedness incurred by the zion easter pageant commit committe tc they reported that cedar city H hurricane ne st george and washington county had all appropriated the amounts requested of them and teat that the asked of irn imn county was all that remains un paid of the indebtedness of the board again took the stand that it is not a proper charge against the cou county nty and that vie the latter should not be used as a dumping ground for debts incurred by others A group of cedar city farm owners including D L Sir sargent genf L A bytendorp Byden dorp and ralph perkins with arthur jones representing cedar city asked the county to help with the purchase of pipe to extend the water from the city limits out to the sargent farni farm they explained that cedar city i is s piping the water to its north boundary at a cost of about 1500 that the county is sponsoring a project to dig the trench for the proposed extension to the farmers concern concerned ed and that the I 1 latter atter had from first other farmers who may wish to connect with the system and the farmers now interested can not finance the cost of larger pipe the commissioners were advised by county attorney morris however that the county cant legally construct water systems so the request had to be rejected supervisor bettenson Bet of the dixie forest service asked the commissioners ners to participate in a survey of wild life con ions particularly der deer which is s to be taken in the imme immediate dante future by the forest service state fish and game department livestock and sportsmens Sports mens organizations the commissioners agreed to coc cooperate deml in this survey the board also agreed to give support to the meetings of the state planning doard board which are scheduled to bo be hold held in the county on saturday february 17 one in parowan carowan and one in cedar city mrs H M couch of lund applied in person to purchase several lots in the lund townsite and her application was
