F BUSINESS AND FINANCE The 1971 State Liquor allotment for Bountiful has been received in the amount of based on the 1970 census for Bountiful of which is reported as the official census figure This amount should continue for forten forten forten ten years under the present state law THE AMOUNT Bountiful should spend for liquor law enforcement enforcement enforcement en en- to continue to qualify for the allotment is 32 or percent of the allotment A check from the State of Utah for was received received received re re- re- re Dec 29 as the second quarterly payment of sales tax The amount received to date is very close to one- one half the amount budgeted THE INTERNAL auditing work has been completed through the month of November in the Swimming Pool and Engineering Departments and is currently progressing progressing progressing progress progress- ing in the City Court Fotu Aiono Mono is conducting most of the work The scope of the internal auditing procedure is to see that all city monies are receipted and properly accounted for and to review managerial controls relating to money collection and handling STREETS AND SANITATION WINTER WEATHER is always hard on our city streets and as usual this time of year the chuck holes are ap ap- The city crews are patching these holes with cold mix asphalt but it is only a temporary repair Permanent repairs will have to be made during warm weather Even though the winter is only half over we have used tons of salt along with many tons of slag and sand on the streets during the stormy and icy conditions PRELIMINARY PLANS have been completed for widening widening widen widen- ing of South Street A public hearing is scheduled for January 26 1971 at 7 pm p.m. to consider several proposals Plans are being prepared for a storm sewer along 1300 East at North Bid opening for this project is expected expect expect- ed in March of 1971 PUBLIC SAFETY A COURT report for December 1970 indicates receipts of Traffic fines accounted for of the total amount nine Fifty-nine Utah Highway Patrol tickets were processed processed processed pro pro- in our city court during the month The police report for the first week of January indicates cases handled Three of the cases were for burglary Five arrests were made THE NEW CITY court will be ready for occupancy by bythe bythe bythe the end of January An open house and a short program is planned for Feb 16 pl I s f BUILDING PLANNING AND ZONING Residential construction for 1970 was much lower than 1969 and is the lowest in over ten years PERMITS FOR 95 single family homes and four multifamily multifamily multifamily multi- multi family units were issued during the year This compares with single family and eight multi family dwellings for 1969 Commercial permits were up when compared with 1969 Fourteen new commercial permits were issued in 1970 which is double the number in 1969 The Planning Commission has received a formal rezoning re- re zoning request to rezone the south east corner of North and West from residential R 4 to commercial C l. A public hearing will be held on Feb 17 1971 AT ITS meeting on Jan 20 the Planning Commission granted final approval to the following subdivision 1 1 Bali Hai Plat E liE at South and East 2 Emerald Hills Plat B liB at 1650 South and East LIGHT AND POWER During the month of December the line crews worked in the area of East and Main Street between 1050 North to 1400 North changing out poles lines and transformers transformers transformers trans trans- formers from 2400 volts to volts This now completes the entire area served by the northeast substation INITIAL UNDERGROUND installation was also established establish establish- ed at the new church at 1200 South Main Additional wiring wiring wiring ing and various maintenance checks have been performed at the northeast and southeast substations The new addition I to the Mountain Bell building on South required additional additional additional ad ad- electric facilities and new underground service has been established at this building Street li light ht installation continued during the month and security lighting has been established at East and Washington Parks Design layout and pricing is cont continuing for the facilities of the northwest substation and the transmission transmission transmission trans trans- mission line which will serve that station I PARKS Al' Al AND RECREATION BOUNTIFUL will accept the outdoor pool in the North NorthPark NorthPark NorthPark Park as an additional city facility and begin operations this coming summer The recreation director has made a preliminary inspection of the building so that plans can be made to prepare forthe for forthe forthe the summer activity Plans to coordinate the recreation programs of both pools are also being prepared to present to the city council |
