Show elder rowley enjoys hometown Home town newspaper elder morris rowley in a letter written to the editor of the times time from st cloud minnesota tells us how much ho he enjoys reading the home town newspaper while laboring as an L U D S missionary at that place he also tells a few things about the people where he is laboring the entire letter is as follows september 9 1939 dear mr mitchell I 1 have been receiving the times now every week for ten months many times in that ten months I 1 have resolved to write and express my sincere appreciation to you and your associates for the times for many different reasons I 1 have put that duty off until now I 1 am almost under the necessity of doing it because I 1 have moved again if I 1 get the ill have to tell you where to send it and ill tell you I 1 miss it when I 1 dont get it I 1 am living at ath ave so st cloud minnesota ill be looking forward to the next issue for people at home it may be ba hard to realize just how nice it is when you are miles away fro from parowan carowan Pa rowan to sit down for a half hour and find out the things that go on at home from week to week how mr joseph has changed his store how ow the peas are arc coming how the weather is thi prospects for harvest the visitors to to parowan carowan and the travelers from the doings at school the clubs the churches the deaths the births t the h e marriages and this week 20 years ago all ail these things make parowan carowan live ive for those who are not there and been there for some time so I 1 want you to know that I 1 sincerely appreciate getting th e times and miss it much when it does not come because of change of address I 1 am enjoying my work here in the mission field a great deal I 1 am thankful to those who have made it possible the people here are much the same as they are at home except their attitude of friendliness is lacking perhaps you would be interested to know the reaction of the people here toward the european situation I 1 suppose they feel the same here as they do all over the U S they dont want war they would gladly fight in defense of this country but dont want to go over seas again they feel that it is not necessary that the U S get into it and at the same time they are almost sure we will they are anxiously watching I 1 hoping and praying and still they seem resigned more or less to the prospect of a complete repetition of world war history financially the people here are unsettled settled there is an awful lot of and a lot of poor under privileged people it seems that society L is being rapidly divided into classes almost casts here the lower classes are beginning to say the government owes me a living and are quite content with what the government gives I 1 send my best regards to you and yours may you have continued success happiness and enjoy the best that life can offer sincerely elder morris rowley |
