Show season isaason s biggest storm hits parowan carowan valley one of the biggest rain storms to ever visit this section and which started monday morning and lasted until wednesday night deposited a total of inches ot of moisture in this valley according to M L local weather observer starting about 8 monday morning it came in the form of a nice gentle fall until about noon during the afternoon it stopped until about 5 then started again lasting for three or four hours to bring the total ifor if or that day to 96 of an inch tuesday only traces of rain came in the valley but the clouds remained dense and heavy wednesdays nes days storm started shortly after midnight and lasted until almost 5 that afternoon bringing inches of additional moisture this was the longest period of sustained rain to come here in many years with the total moisture for the three day period as large or larger than for any like time in the history of local weather records very little of the water ran off in the valley although the canyon creek reached flood stage late wednesday afternoon the storm seemed to be general all over southern utah with large falls reported from many cities and towns and wednesdays fall reached well into northern utah it is reported very little damage ras r as done aone ty by the storm although the harvesting of pod peas potatoes and grain was halted for a few days ana other farm work was brought to a standstill if a frost follow in the wake of the storm to kill the peas great benefit will bp b derived from it by thi this is crop while the range and other crops received an untold amount of good pea fields on some of the farms of the valley were damaged to a slight extent by a frost which hit the valley last friday night before the storm with some fields injured rather seriously |
