Show drinking workers face loss of I 1 permit ermit the deseret news liquor permits ot of workers who spend large proportions ol 01 their relief salaries on intoxicating beverages may be revoked in hi the near fixture tir fir ture it wag waa indicated saturday in an opinion written by assistant attorney general S D huffaker tile the opinion written at the request ot of claud platt director of the millaid county department 0 of public welfare who recently complained that workers in his county were spending large sums on liquor and gambling points out that there are two provisions in liquor law which would provide means meang of revoking the licenses air Hur Iluf taker faker quoted section 51 5 chapter 43 laws 0 of utah 1935 leading as follows notwithstanding an anthina thing ing contained in this act the state liquor control ont rol commission may for any cause which it deems sufficient with or without hearing cancel 01 1 I suspend any permit granted toi foi the purchase of liquor under this act second quotation fr from om section 57 of the came chapter reading when it Is made to appear to the satisfaction of a judge of the district court that any person ng or sojourning sojo within this state by excessive drinking of liquor mis spends wastes or lessens his estate or injures his health or interrupts or impairs t the ile peace or happiness ot of his family the judge may make an order of interdiction directing the tha cancellation of any held by that person and prohibiting the sale of liquor to him until further ordered and the judge adge shall cause ithe order to be forthwith tiled filed with the tha commission and the commas slon sion shall thereupon cancel any permit held by the interdicted Interdict ed party 1 it is a misdemeanor for any person who has had his license revoked to keep or have in his possession any liquor after the order of revocation has gone into effect |
