Show outlook better for wool says marshall mill activity best in ten years R F C planning flanning help for growers in marketing returning tho first of the week from washington D C where he has been for the past two months month F R marshall secretary of 01 tho he national asso association at on reported a materially improved improve ou look tor for wool in the near future activity on the part of the mills which is the greatest in ten years year Is the chief factor in the improved improve outlook A plan being worked out by the reconstruction finance cc corporation or po ration to avoid the necess nece necessity sM of growers selling their clips immediately at low prices also helps mr marshall is quoted by the press as follows there was a rather large carryover of 1934 wools into this year I 1 but since january and particularly cul arly in the last two mon tits ane mill activity has been the greatest during the last ten years mill requirements quire ments have been supplied chiefly ablen Y from stocks at the principle markets and there is no longer concern tor for any depressing effect through unusual stocks importations have been very light some mills have taken sufficient orders to occupy them completely I 1 until next august there have been large government coni contracts i tor for woolen goods and the demand for civilian supply has been very strong added to this abi there is support from the tact fact that foreign markets are strengthening slightly and there is practically no prospect of any change in the present se nt duty on wool which Is today almost wholly effective in the interests ot of the growers regarding the negotiations mr air marshall reported that a new plan is being developed and it is hoped as a result growers will be able to obtain relief within a few weeks the plan calls for making loans on unsold wools to avoid having to sell at low prices or to make consignments consign ments on the basis of cash advances that are out of line with the present and prospective markets ile he said the organization of a special corporation was being considered to give backing to banks mr air marshall stated li hwe wever vcr that officials of the AAA have made no definite announcement as yet ais as to what action will be taken by that agency in connection with the 1935 lips clips |
