Show NO F r P r C C BRANCH TO BE established IN CEDAR mr air W n R andrew secretary of tho the federal production credit corporation po ration and preston G thomas head 0 of the department of agrical Agri cul tural economics at tho the utah state agricultural college at logan were wera the speakers at a meeting ot of depre senta tentative tive farmers from washington iron and reaver beaver counties count lea and the arizona strip on friday february 2 at the branch agricultural college the purpose ot of the meeting was a to present the plan of the fed oral eral government for or the organization of production credit associations in the state A tentative plan for the organization ot of tour four credit production associations in the state with headquarters at ogden provo and cedar city respectively was abandoned in favor ot of tile the organization of only two production credit associations lit in the state headquarters of both organizations to it le be in the state capital one association so will be organized to meet the needs of large livestock operators the other association will supply the credit needs 0 of smaller livestock men and combination farmers and livestock men who require less than five thousand tand dollars credit for or production purposes in any one yea the reason four our credit associations were not formed in the state was because the organizers felt that perhaps insufficient volume of business might result in discouragement and failure on the part of the smaller organizations it the volume of business and other conditions justify an expansion of credit associations throughout the state mr andrew felt that these could be organized at a later date at the meeting the iron county representatives selected the iron county commissioners as their representatives presenta tives to attend the final organization meeting to be held february 8 at the new house hotel iu in salt lake city PT |
