Show F L culver dies I 1 in san diego hospital death results from injuries sustained in fall here last october mr F L culver 76 former resident and ra ranchman ot of iron county died jan 22 at a san diego hospital from injuries sustained stained fu last oct ober when ho he fell from a granery roof at his ranch in this valley hij the deceased is survived by hla widow cella celia yardley culver who i a native of parowan carowan and ix children isabel frank harold irene ellis ellia and irma all ot of whom live in san diego mr culver who was born in Y ypsilanti P si sil antl lanti michigan Vic higan left the wolverine state when twenty one years ot of age and stained in fit the sheep business in fit wyoming when it was I 1 in n its infancy there lie he developed seve se veril ra I 1 bands of 0 sheep arid and became associated with the wholesale groc grocery ery business after several years lie he disposed of 0 his property there and moved to nebraska where he developed 4 1 i 1 thousand acre grain ranches and sublet he also engineered and spon bored two major water projects and became actively interested lit in grain rain I 1 cl elevator evator in 1900 lie he went to mexico as representative of an all omaha investment firm and years surveying and appraising an all estate two years later lie he secured an appointment I 1 by the british government ment to handle the purchasing ot of avaley hobbes lit in the united states for the boer war it was while in ill this berice ben ice that he came to utah and noting the excellent range possibilities i ties of lon lion county for or grazing sheep later returned to settle here for several years he was engaged enin ellin in fit the sheep business in iron county and in developing irrig irrigated atea farms by means of artesian wells most of his interests in fit iron county lie he moved his family 1 in 1910 to imperial valley and commenced fattening liening a lambs on a ble big scale for ten years he fed between bc tween nine and fifteen thousand each year iia la Js remembered there as tho the first man to bring a herd or of sheep into tile the valley and as the first man to undertake raising grapefruit commercially the last five years ol of his life mr air culver was partially retired dividing his time between su i ing his property in utah and livings living I 1 with his family in sau san diego PT I 1 |
