Show BANK OFFICIALS street gossip since the two banks in n the county closed in december Dec embar lias has had officials of both institutions all but behind prison doors rumors of irregularities faulty judgment ftc tc have been frequent and persistent but when these rumors are investigated ti one after another they prove to have little or no foundation so tar far as the times has been able to learn there has not been one bit of incriminating evidence found against a single employee or officer of either institution on the other hand when the facts are known their records are straight their deal ings have been in the open and some of them have sacrificed their own interests to help out the institutions with which they were connected much has been made of the fact that some of them had bad no mo money ney in the lie banks when they closed and there have been stories of withdraw els but in each instance the rumor 11 unfounded or there is an in explanation which is logical satisfactory and beyond suspicion of irregularity instead of selfishly withdrawing their funds as rumor would have it many of them let their taxes go paid in an effort to help the banks by leaving their money in ill them others delayed payment until the i ery cry last minute rather than withdrawing funds antu iti ib was waa absolute y necessary faulty judgment possibly yes hut but whose judgment been faulty in the last few years who have paid more tor for sheep and grazing land in 1929 than the banks loaned on them or tor for practically any other class of security ort on which they loaned to learn the facts involved one ter another strengthens rather than ban weakens our confidence not on only ay in those officials but in markind generally it seems high time hat we cut out this gossip ot of whick ve are all more or less guilty and congratulate ourselves that our friends and neighbors in whom we have bave reposed confidence co came thru unscathed PT |
