Show republicans reelect re Rew elect most of county off officers ic e rs democrat wins for recorder reelected re elected balance republicans the republican party in this county ac scored ored another bat tuesdays election which wast almost sweeping in its ila nature with two exceptions they elected tho the entire county ticket and gave the senatorial state and congressional nominees leads which were staggering the democrats elected lewis R fife tor for sheriff over the present incumbent J T leigh and reelected re elected kate taylor tor for a fifth or sixth term as recorder both with fair margins the race between the nominees tor for county attorney was rather close thirty five votes going the other way would have elected scott matheson over the successful ernest burgess asile aside from these the republican candidates had no race at all little or no work was done by most of the democratic candidates and no public rallies were held in which they were given a chance to appear the county seat question overshadowing the question of political candidates tor for the most part the unprecedented vote which parowan carowan and paragonah Para rara gonah gave to matheson Ma theaon and fife is strenuously resented by republican leaders in cedar city who threaten all sorts ot ol things against this end of the county in future elections but aside from that there seems to be no hard feelings over ever the outcome the iron county vote is responsible tor for george jeffersons election as state senator from this dietric dis us his lead of around votes in beaver county was more than offset by holtons Tol tons lead in wash washington agton county of near the vote tor for the amendments was overwhelmingly in the affirmative as will be seen from the tabulation elsewhere in this issue the victorious candidates for county offices are as follows representative 3 S woodbury lood bury commissioners 4 year term 11 II L adams 2 year term lyman E sevy clerk W clair rowley treasurer clair hulet recorder kate taylor attorney ernest H burgess assessor hillman dalley sheriff L R fife with the exception of the sherif and the attorney they are all incumbents at present of the offices toi foi which they were elected PT |
