Show s GOOD WOMAN PASSES FOLLOWING OPERATION this community received a severe shock last saturday morning with the information that mary diary stevens ward president of the east ward relief society had passed away following an operation the day before tor for toxic boltre goitre mrs ward had bad been bean vety ill III tor for several weeks and the gmitro was thought to be the cause ot of her trouble she was taken to the hospital ba b fore the holidays but her condition permit of her being opera ted on at that time the doctors gave no hope of her getting well without an operation and an attempt was made to build her up to a point where she could stand t the be ordeal the shock proved to great tor for her however and she passed away within twenty tour four hours mrs ward has been a very active member of the community particularly in church affairs and her passing is a distinct loss to all of us and particularly to her family for seven years she wai was pc p aident of the primary association following which she was made counselor cou to mrs melinda M adams when the latter was selected as president of the relief Soc society ety eiten the ward was divia ed ad mrs hire ward was chosen president of the east ward relief society which po position stion she has held ever since horn born on july 24 1870 a daughter of joseph and lucy mintora stevens mrs ward was reared in this c community mm unitY on june 3 1890 she was married to edward parker ward who proceeded her in death by only about seven months seven children were born to them joseph clair george chester and pearl all ot of parowan carowan Pa rowan mrs myrtle W burt of beaver and mrs mra marybelle W lemmon of southern california all of whom were here for the funeral she Is also survived by one sister miss lydia stevens and laur faur brothers edmund joseph william and aad george williams willams home Is in wyoming and he was unable to set get here impressive funeral funer al services were acro held in the east ward chapel on tuesday afternoon with bishop mitchell Ml presiding the speakers vee vc e barbara M adams bishop if L adams and mary diary 11 marsden L J adams sang a number with choir accompaniment accompany ment and another number was sung by a male quartette the opening and closing prayers were offered by david matheson Mathe soa and john P orton respectively and amenzo ot of Parag paragonah Para gonah anah dedicated the final resting place at the cemetery there was a large number 0 of out of 0 town people present particularly particular y from beaver cedar paragonah Para gonah a and d sl summit on behalf of the community the times extends sincere sympathy to the bereaved ones |
