Show PARDONS BOARD SAYS LOCAL OFFICERS ARE responsible answering an inquiry from the bouny attorneys office as to the status of the nelson and bryant case the board 0 of pardons advises that it took inel finel action on the case by denying petitions tor for parole on the lath lay day ot of june and that it then became the duty of 0 the local officers to handle the defendants under the original commitment issued by the district court following the conviction of these defendants on a felony charge at the last cobit and their sentence to the elate benite penitentiary n I 1 biary they were ghen reprieves by the pardons board signed by milton 11 welling as acting governor po Vo vernor service ice ct cf these reprieves on the sher P lit ift took the case out of his bis hands and in the absence of any official notice that the pardons board was through with the case he had been iu in doubt as to his authority to take the defendants into custody so they have been at large tor for more than six weeks nelson in and about cedar at and bryant we understand dundei stand in salt lake city following receipt ot of the letter etter arm the board in answer to the attorneys inquiry however plans were made immediately tor for taking the hie defendants to the penitentiary to serve out jut their terms of 0 one to ten years tand land in all lilly they will be incarcerated |
