Show I 1 improvements ARE TO BE MADE AT CHEESE FACTORY to continue operation of the cheese factory through the winter and to make improvements estimated to cost coat between and 1000 in order to produce cheese more economically and of better quality was decided upon at a meeting ot of the parowan carowan stockholders and patrona ot of the southern utah dairy co on monday night ol of this week A similar decision dece aion sion la is expected from a meeting ot of the Parag onali people which is being held tonight to night the meetings at both places were failed ailed by the board ot of directors direct ora to lay before stockholders patrons and boosters boasters bo for or the enterprise the true condition ot of the business and to ascertain the wishes of those concerned mr A J morris dairy expert of the B A 0 who has been working with the local cheese maker on saturdays tor for some come time tor for the purpose of familiarizing himself with conditions was present it the meet i ing at the request of tile officers and he made some constructive criticism particularly of the present arrangement of tile the plant and methods ot of fadling handling the milk from the time it Is from the cow until it Is converted into chees he pointed out how apparently little things such euch as lateness in getting to the factory cans calls not properly sterilized etc all detracted from the quality of the product and an regul resulted ted in loss to all concerned he made suggestions for improving the mechanical arrangement of the plant to avoid unnecessary 1 work and td make possible the more economical production and better quality of 0 cheese the officers of the company stated that wh while ile production bad fallen on off very materially still it is holding up much better than they had anticipated taking into account local teed feed conditions and that they had reason to believe that it will increase from now on the factory can continue to operate without loss even with smaller production than at present but it if it Is going to continue some improvements must be made in tact fact one ot of the board ot of directors said that without some improvements he refuses to go on any farther as a part ot of the man ager argement nent A brief report of the secretary treasurer showed the company to be in good condition financially considering si the original capital investment and it was pointed out that it it were so desired t the he factory could close down very gracefully at this time but that improvements will have to be financed by the sale of more ot of the capital stock those who were present a rather large number voted unanimously in favor ot of continuing the factory several ot of those who spoke expressed confidence that it would not be difficult to raise the necessary money tor for the needed improvements A committee to sell stock for or this purpose was named Vs ss fo laws anthony paxton walter malter mitchell Ml oscar 11 lyman W W mitchell and wm pritchard arl vice president samuel abbott ot of the company pre sidel at thein cem ing |
