Show HEADS MUSIC department MIN 4 the above picture plo ture will be recognized instantly by most of our readers as aa that 0 of sir mr ralph 0 jensen head of the music department of the parowan carowan high this season because he was in our school once before he be needs no introduction to us but some ot of his experiences are interesting mr air jensen was born in salt lake city but before he had entered school hla his father was called to heber city as a member of the stake presidency of the stake there so his grade and high schooling was waa obtained in the latter place naturally bashful and self con clous lie he make any great reputation tor for himself until he began to overcome over coma that handicap durin his third year induced that year to take a course in oral expression he displayed some talent and that thai spring won third place in the state contest at the U of U he resolved to do better the next year in the meantime he had taken considerable music and the following year he en ell tried the state contests in a both singing and declamation on high school day at the U and won first place in both events which entitled him to a scholarship at the U after a summer at the military training camp he entered the U of U in the fall taking normal training and what music he could the next two years he be taught in millard county then he joined a theatrical troup and played all over the western states lie he saved enough money to return to salt lake city and enter the L D S school of music mottle graduating from that school with the first class then he taught a year at the ricks normal college in idaho and the following year at the parowan carowan high A year on a vaudeville circuit another years teaching in idaho and last year in nevada accounts tor for him until the present time mr jensen adds that he expects this thia year to be the best in his experience |
