Show SEED TRAIN BRINGS information AND inspiration TO IRON COUNTY FARMERS inspiration to better belter farming and information which should aid materially in that direction were carried to the farmers of iron county liy by the special seed train and its personnel bilich included this county in the itinerary ot of its tour of the state and which was in cedar city on saturday afternoon of this week wech this special seed demonstration train was made possible through the operation cooperation co of the union pacific system the state department of agriculture and the utah agricultural college it carried with it some borne exceptional exhibits of farm farin seeds and crops including nc luding corn wheat oats barley alfalfa seed sweet clover seed potatoes onions etc together gether to with educational charts mounted specimens of the various noxious weeds with information as to how they are controlled specimens of various crop diseases which are common to this locality seed cleaning devices and numerous other features which were ot of interest to farmers several specialists in various lines of 0 agriculture accompanied the train included in the personnel of which were JC Ilo gansen and DC extension agronomists of the CJ fly expert webb state slate crop pests inspector MS winder secretary of 0 the utah state farm bureau EE smith veteran show man and seed specialist of 0 bountiful and some others whose names we failed to learn A meeting wai was beldin one ot of the cars a chair car which accompanied the train at which all the foregoing spoke on subjects in their lines some of 0 which we wish to review for ahr benefit ot of our readers in coming issues ol of the TIMES one of 0 the outstanding features of the train was the alfalfa seed exhibit which showed the importance of the industry and that utah produces nearly one halt half of al the seed in the united |
