Show genealogical sunday last sunday was genealogical Sunda sunday vand and was observed as such here i in n parowan carowan as well as throughout the various wards of the fhe L D S church the sacrament meeting in the afternoon was devoted to the subject of genealogy and other subjects closely related the program having been arranged by a committee previously appointed to encourage the keeping of genealogical records bishop adams presided but after the preliminary exercises and the sacrament the time was given over to the committee brother thomas D adams who is chairman made I a few opening remarks during which he urged the keeping of family records and the organization of family genealogical societies and emphasized the importance of same incidentally ci he be explained that his committee intended in the near future to visit each home in town in the interest of genealogical work brother wm win marsden gave a brief talk on marriage frum rum the latter day saints view pointy point miss mary orton sang bang a solo and then mrs john H dalley from summit gave a splendid talk explaining in detail the reason for collecting genealogical data and its use in doing work for the dead she stated that there are five classes of people for whom work will have to be done it the temples and that it behooves the latter day saints to be diligent in their efforts in this direction enumerating the classes she said there are those who have lived upon the earth when there was no gospel dispensation those now upon the earth who have never heard the gospel and whom the missionaries have not reached people who though they are converted can not accept the gospel and do their own work those who have heard the gospel and wilfully reject it and those of us who though we have accepted it are negligent and indifferent and fail to go to the house of the lord and dothe do the work necessary for our own salvation mrs R L fenton sang a after which the meeting was dismissed sed |
