Show 11 BREAKS REACHED IN RECORD timea HALTERMAN MAKES TRIP WITH bea D 6 H R G RAILROAD IN AN HOUR S THIRTY FOUR MINUTES photograph BREAKS AT SUNSET HOUR in what is undoubtedly the busck est trip ever made from this or adjoining cities mr BIT S A halterman manager of the parowan carowan cedar breaks passenger line took W H cundey assistant general passenger agent and R H beam official photographer for the denver and rio grande railroad on saturday afternoon for a view of the cedar breaks without mr holtermans Halter mans knowing it one of the passengers kept the time making careful note of two are three short stops for the propose of seeing points of interest along the way and when they reached the breaks notified him that despite the mud which was bad on the mammoth hill they were only an hour and forty eight minutes from parowan carowan fourteen of which had been taken for the stops mentioned fortunately for the party which reached there about half an hour before sunset the sky was clear and beautiful after the storm and an exceptionally good sunset view of the breaks was had several photographs were taken that evening before they came down the canyon and the next morning they and mr BIT ramsey who has been there for a week past photographing returned with mr halterman and spent about three hours photographing the breaks and other beautiful scenic attractions mr BIT cundey stated that their trip to this section was strictly a business trip that they were looking for places that would appeal to tourists with the idea of selling belling them railroad transportation from the east to those points they had been to braces and the grand canyon and had attempted to go from kanab around to hurricane but were unsuccessful on account of the recent floods in that section they then came to panguitch and phoned over here to see if getting to the breaks were possible on learning that it is they attempted to come through bear valley but were again disappointed so they returned to salt lake city thence to lund and from froin there to cedar and parowan carowan by stage after seeing the breaks and learning how easily accessible they are from this place mr cundey stated that arrangements would be made to send tourists by rail to lund or milford thence to this place and the breaks by stage that we shall receive a lot of ad ver from these people is without question and w we e may expect results in the not far distant future |
