Show I 1 i PERTINENT QUESTION one of our contemporaries asked in a recent issue of his publication the following very pertinent question if you trade out of town and I 1 trade out of town and the other fellow trades butof out of town chatin what in the h will become of the town not only does that question apply to buying merchandise but to transacting other business as well true there is in some instances an ail apparent difference in the price of the particular commodity we may wish but in a lot of instances comparison of the articles reveals that there is a greater difference in quality in favor of the home dealer than there is in the price in favor of the mail order concern then too the money we spend at home helps to buildup build up home while that which is sent away is gone for ever if it for the business of those citizens who are far sighted enough to see the answer to the above question it would be only a matter of time until our mercantile concerns would have to go out of business then what sort of a town would we have what would become of the town the same thing is true in other directions several estates are being probated for local people by outside attorneys who are charging just as much or more than it would cost to have it done locally and the money which should be retained here where it would help to build up this community is going out fori forever iver incidentally one the largest users of stationery and other products of the printing shop has haa been saying good bye to hundreds of dollars each year which had bad it been expended here would have been back into their possession and making money for fortham them again within twenty four hours the advantage of and even the necessity for supporting and patronia ing home institutions is so apparent that to the person who gives it a thought and who is interested in the least in the progress of the community no argument is necessary at this time particularly when it is so difficult t to get hold of any money people should hesitate a long time before spending money out where they are sure they shall never see it again lets make parowan carowan a better town by spending our money in it were to be exhibited as well as has ha been suggested it would be highly desi reable if not abs absolutely acutely necessary to hold it sometime during the latter part of september r but if it were to be strictly a livestock show then a better time would be later inthe in the season september is always a very busy month for people interested in livestock and very few of them have time to take proper care of animals at that time of year to make them appear to the best advantage then too showing at that time often necessitates b bringing ringing animals out of the mountains at a time when the they are doing the best into the heat of the valley and all in all it is rather an expensive proposition if it were postponed until november or december or even as late as january or early february owners would have more time and a better opportunity at less expense to exhibit their livestock more people would have time to attend a show at such a time also and better results generally should be obtained weather conditions might detract to some extent but the chances are about equal that good weather would prevail serious consideration should be given the idea and definite action taken at an early date to determine whether or not we want such a show |
