Show discovering the last minute that we were short of space in last weeks issue we were unable to mention the opera boccaccio boccaccio Boi caccio the P H S alumni banquet and some other important items and that is our excuse for referring to them now the opera open presented on friday night april by the music department 1 part ment of the dixie normal college under the direction of the P 11 S was a wonderful production the company consisting of seventy five voices and a sixteen piece orchestra directed by joseph william mcallister gave a splendid account of the training they have had and their rendition of that famous light opera boccaccio was exceptionally good the soloists particularly were noticeable on account of their good voices and more so because there were so many of them the school the director and the individuals of the company are ito to be complimented for the success of their efforts the first banquet of the P H S alumni association was held in the high school building on saturday night april 23 of the 1920 graduating class the first from the institution only rex ward lucile parcells and taylor parkinson were in in town but they certainly did themselves proud in the banquet they gave for the 1921 graduating class and the faculty members with their partners rex was the toastmaster and host of the evening lucile the hostess and taylor gave the address of welcome to the new members toasts were responded to by principal fenton mayor mitchell and others while the sumptuous six course banquet prepared by the F A N club was being served and a areal real good time was hid by all who were present aunt jane ward and her son david W have moved down to rush lake to take care of the place during the absence of their ceasee james fisher mr and mrs james fisher of rush lake left monday afternoon for a months visit at their old home in michigan on their return they will be accompanied by their widowed daughter and family who are coming to utah to make their home 1 F johnson state health in specter paid a call to parowan carowan to inspect sanitary conditions I 1 mr I 1 r johnson has conferee conf ered with the mayor and other local authorities in reference to giving parowan carowan a clean up day it is the intention of the state health department to prosecute all violators of health laws and regulations dr T B beatty secy state board of health has given special orders to have all corrals and outside clean and sanitary also fly proof while in town mr johnson inspected all our hotels slaughter houses barber shops and meat markets along with is other duties miss golda gurr in installed as sales lady in the win H gurr store |
