Show BELIEF SOCIETY SOCIAL given in honor of the retiring presidency friday night in the relief society hall the ladies ladie of that organization kave gave an entertainment in honor of mrs elizabeth hoyle and her counselors mrs mable adams and mrs sarah ann stevens who have been active officers for several years the work done by these ladies and the honor in which they are held by their workers coworkers co was deemed worthy of recognition and the members gave the entertainment as above mentioned the evening was pleasantly spent by about people who were treated to an excellent pro program grm of musical numbers readings ree recitations games etc at the conclusion of which they were regaled with refreshments that were delicious in the extreme during the entertainment the retiring sisters were called upon to make a few remarks and each stated that they had enjoyed themselves in doing relief work and loved every member with a true loye love and asked the blessings of god upon all who work in this excellent benevolent ne society mr hoyle and her counsel were each presented with a beautifully bound volume of heart throbs and they expressed delight and gratitude for the beautiful present the in going officers are mrs mary marsden Wars den mrs barbara adams and mrs luella adams each of whom are loyal to the cause and earnest workers who will do all in their power to make a success of the organization harvy faubian of st george who has spent the summer in cedar city working on the district school building came to parowan carowan friday to work on the new coop co op building the ball given by the haydn society saturday night was well patronized and reports are to the effect that it was enjoyed the auctioning of the ladies lunch baskets was a special feature and each basket was readily purchased by the boys who were at the party nearly all the merry makers were costumed in the regular halloween styles rep resenting spooks shooks witches etc at a seasonable hour th danca was dismissed and all wended bended their way home tired but happy mr and mrs julius rosenberg of cedar were in parowan carowan saturday having come to visit with their daughter violet and to attend to some business matters in our hurry and rush of work last week in getting out the first issue of the times we overlooked the advertisement of W warner mit achell chell it appears this week elsewhere in these columns subscribers are coming in every day so that they may not m miss iss an issue of the times FRIENDS call at geo taylors taylora for your thanksgiving and birthday cards adv i the equit co op is sending alyc teams to remove their saw faw mill from its present location to a new one on mammoth creek selected by S J ward last week another baby weight record was made in parowan carowan last week achild A child was born that tipped the scales at 13 pounds can any other town in the county do as aa well we think not B E whitney one of our efficient blacksmiths should have had his card in last issue but because of failing to find him at home last week when our reporter called we were unable to get it however mr whitney assures us that he will hand in his card next week or the week following the election ball given monday eveni neby the republican and democratic parties was well attended by old and young everyone had a good time and felt well repaid for the trouble of attending whether or not the dance made any converts for either party is not known but it is a fact that it worked up a little enthusiasm among the voters travelers will notice that every loose rock that was lying in the road down the lane has been removed they were removed by a resident of of parowan carowan who is over seventy years of age he did i dijk for the good of the county and for the convenience veni ence of automobile and wagon drivers if others will follow suit and remove the rocks from the streets of the town a good work will have been done sam jones of provo and district line manager of the bell telephone company spent the past ten days in in parowan carowan moving the company lines from the center to the side of the street running west one block north of the court house mr jones claims that having their lines on the electric light poles has caused con aid erable inconvenience and to avoid this the bell c company ordered him to remove the line to poles ru run n ning along the side of the street |
