Show the new tabernacle contributed there was a very good attendance to the mass meeting last monday night in the tabernacle in answer to the call to come and discuss the subject of erecting a new tabernacle the majority appeared unanimous in favor of a new building but to a observer it appeared to be the ones whom fortune had favored the alic roost most who were most in favor of the movement the older element was a little more conservative serva tive and cautious there was considerable discussion about where the new building should stand whether the old one should be pulled down or whether it should be remedied or modernized or used for some other oilier purpose sortie some good practical ideas were put forth but nothing could be decided upon as a matter of course at the present time those at the meeting s emed to realize that careful consideration was needed for a job of this magnitude parowan carowan has had some very expensive lessons in regard to its public buildings and many other utilities prominent citizens should be held responsible for these costly blunders the fact that the laity follows their lead and do not think for themselves or if they do they have not the power to change things it should be remembered that our fathers in their pioneering days and poverty did the best they could in the way of building tabernacles and in our lack of gratitude we have allowed the old building to become an eyesore for want of taking better care of it by all means let us have an up to date tabernacle but dont donit forget that it needs good judgment as a first requisite next self sacrifice and money and labor and lots of it A motion was passed at the mass meeting to appoint a committee of three ia to work out a plan for the erection of a building and present it to the people at an early date the gentlemen who compose this committee are wilford day chairman walter C Al mitchell itchell and hugh L adams three gentleman who will do conscientious work and will push the project along with a vim |
