Show REGARDING SCHOOL WORK some time to parents from superintendent C A blocher next monlay the public schools ot will reopen otter the chinat mas boll lays and it is hoped that very child park city will be in hi place that morning and ready for w erk the of being regular and punctual in attendance can not be too often repeated nor too deeply impressed it i the aim to make every recitation an important one and to conduct it in such manner as to prepare the way lor the recitation ahn preparation is often the most vital part of the brecita tion and the pupil who fails to receive it finds handicapped when he undertakes to prepare the first lesson after br return lvery lesson is an in bartot a whole and evry one that is aimed is broken link in the chain of the child s school life in regard to p we regret to eay that thia is one thing in which our school are behind those of other cities too many people seem to have the ion that it males but little difference it their children are two or three mi bates late such an opinion is erroneous erro and pernicious tt ben a child comes into the room late it aba entire room and causes every pupil therein to lose at least one minute of time bo w bile the one or two minutes may not amount to much to the child that was late think what it moans to the school it means that by being late he haa robbed the chool in ha aggregate of forty to fifty minutes of valuable tinie ire ou wil ling to have your child begin hilr tet in school to be a detriment to his fellows ind a burden to society but this is not the only evil from a purely selfish point f mew no parent cau afford to allow hii clel I 1 to be dardr at school the pupil who is latec wo three or conr times a month is forming habits of carelessness in differ enca and sluggishness that will surely prove fatal to success in life the sue manor woman of today is abe one abat is prompt decisive and punctual the demands of tl e coming age along these lines will b still more exacting and if we wish our boys and girls to sue ced we can teach them no better lesson than that of being punctual int heier firmance for mance of every duty every child should be ashamed to be tardy ate chool and evera parent should feel a tense of shame at having his children come late with the aid of the parent we believe the element of tardiness can be eliminate ed from our records and we hope to see a united effort of the home and school to bring about this result at noon monday every child will re ceide his report card containing his becort for the of december itis hoped that parents will examine these reports very carefully care full for tl ey represent approximately what the children are doing in school sometimes fault is found with aba markings given by the teachers and where such is t e case the complaint should be made immedi abely to the superintendent and the mat ter w 11 be investigated promptly par engg howver choul bot be too quick to condemn the teacher for low marks for it may be the child does not deserve more the work may be too difficult for him he may be slow to grasp new ideas be may think that b knows when he does not know or as is sometimes the case he may not apply himself as he ai a rule teachers aim to be just in their estimates of pupils of courna chev are not inta aible and are likely to make errors but our alpen ence has been abat chev are alwag s read to correct such errors when shown the j if the marks upon your chila s card are low eek to discover the cause first then if you find the to blame ehe deserves your bensur high marks undeserved are far more detrimental to a child than bvm low marks undeserved the teanner who marks pupils belond what they are actu ally worth js doing them an untold in jury and is failing to do the real work of the public school which is to prepare pupil for life did you ever stop to think that D upon your child s report earl means that he can answer correctly nineteen out of every twenty questions put to him and that it he can t do this the D is worse than meaningless it is actually misleading and causes tl e child to become satisfied with less than hia best ef fortt even P means that he can answer correctly fourteen out of every twenty questions aske him aro you sure that 1 e can do this e some times I 1 ear guch false grading of as kut it deserves no such name tor it is only that kind of encouragement that roust end in dai coura gement and failure let us eek e ek to teach it e children tt air true standing rather iban leave them find out later in life abat we liace falsely hem a being anch more nearly perfect tl an aliey really are one more point to which we would call tl e attention rl parents an 1 guar fians it this time in order to manage any organization it 11 feces sary to have certain rules and to see that those rules are enforced tl e school trustee have adopted a set of rules and regulations for the our and have them printed and jis among the homes of park city these rules the teachers are in duty bound to enforce and should any teach er fail to asart in enforcing tl era the could not be retained in tho hence parents and guardians i read these carefully in order to know that deac era when enforcing them aie but doin their duty and that alen rules are violated r mast fol low n matter who the offender may be in the public as in the state each and every individual must stand upon the lame footing and the violation of any law means the of feht wr child la dioro than other children are to you and in your home but to tt e teacher and in be public UL boole all cl lloren are the game and regarded it you have no copy of our catalogue in your home ask tor one and it will b you in surveying the work of the past four months we see that much good work has been done and that nearly ninety per cent of tt e pupils hare made pro greis 1 ut more than t ii can be done during the next five and a larg er per cent of the pupils can be benefit ted this is
