M Park with his family moved to Davis Coun- Coun i f y 1 w f I r I II d I 4 PK ry ryk k e eIrk Irk a 1 JOHN PARK ty from Salt Lake County in 1933 He was employed for a time by the Layton Sugar Co in 1939 at Layton In 1944 he was Layton City Clerk and Auditor and served for 17 years in that office When he was 65 he retired from the office Retirement did not last long as he was appointed clerk-auditor clerk by the Davis County Commissioners upon the death of Clerk Strong MR PARK filed for the Clerks Clerk's office in the election of 1962 and was elected by bya a three to two majority In 1966 he filed for a second term and won by the overwhelming overwhelming overwhelming over over- whelming majority of two and anda a half to one When Mr Parks became clerk in 1960 the assessed value of Davis County was better than Voting Voting Voting Vot Vot- ing precincts in the early were 40 which have increased in increased increased in- in creased to 93 for the election election election elec elec- tion in November The work I I EMIL M. M WHITESIDES load has increased many times but the duties of office office office of of- fice are being accomplished with two additional employees HE AND IllS HIS wife wiCe have three girls and two boys all married Added to the Parks family are 22 grandchildren grandchildren grandchildren grand grand- children and 14 great grand children Mr Parks was Bishop of the Layton Fourth Ward for six and a half years and for 15 years he was in the Layton Stake dency He is now patriarch Emil Whitesides EMIL Whitesides present county treasurer and a longtime longtime longtime long long- time resident of Kaysville is 75 years old and retired as a Davis County educator at 65 He spent 39 years in school activities starting at 19 In a two-room two school J in North Farmington where where- he taught four grades The Thelast Thelast Thelast last 33 years of his school career was spent at Davis High School the last six sue and anda a half years as principal He has been active in church and civic affairs A Republican he has served as district chairman County chairman and for a number of years on the Republican State Central Committee HE SERVED two terms as mayor of Kaysville Mr 11 White- White ides recalls that in 1929 he a home m in Kaysville He and his wife raised a family of two girls and one boy They have 12 dren He served in the first world war After Mr Whitesides' Whitesides first retirement he ran for the Davis County treasurers treasurer's office office office of of- fice in the 1962 election and was elected for a second term in 1966 winning both elections elections elections elec elec- with overwhelming ma-i ma t tHE i HE W WILL LL BE active in work for the benefit of the communities and Davis county county coun coun- ty |
