Show Eakin rockets to three wins in Region Eleven track meet -x s z by DAVE ADLER staff writer Ena Eakin, Park City High School's freshman flash, exploded for three victories Thursday in the Region 11 track championship at Weber State College in Ogden to spearhead a strong team performance perfor-mance which will send nine local athletes to the 1A state championship champion-ship Saturday at Brigham Young University. Eakin, 15, who has dominated the half-mile, mile and two-mile events , throughout the season against older, more experienced competition, '. flashed across the finish line first yet again to take home the blue ribbon in those three events. And she did it with flair and drama. , While she swept the mile with ease, she faced tough competition in the half-mile and two-mile races. In the half-mile, Ena held the lead , throughout most of the race before being passed heading down the ihome stretch. But Ena, whom track coach Bill Kahn calls a "gutsy runner," battled back to pull out the victory. "It's not very often that a runner is passed in the home stretch and still manages to win," said Kahn. good," said Kahn. "I think there's a lot of potential there. Buckner, who holds the high school's record in the shotput, finished third in that event in the regionals and added a fourth-place finish in the discus. Knudson was fourth in the shotput. On the girls' side, Shelley Barnes will be making the trip to BYU on the strength of her second in the shotput and fourth in the discus throw. Joining her will be Katherine Willard, who finished third in the 300-yard hurdle, and fourth in the k 100-yard hurdles. On the boys' side, St. Joseph was first with 137 points, North Summit second with 114, Park City third was 66, Wendover fourth with 58, Dugway fifth with 45, South Summit sixth with 35, North Rich seventh with 24, Manila eighth with 18, Tintic ninth with eight, Mt.
