Show No holiday for local doctors "I'd say the cases were pretty evenly divided between ski injuries and routine sore throats and colds," he said. The most common ski injury was a broken or sprained thumb, said Sadowsky. "The ski patrol doesn't usually see those because the patient skis off the mountain and later in the evening notices the swelling." A number of knees and shoulders also took a beating over the holiday, he said. Happily, though, both clinics reported a decrease in the number of automobile-related injuries. "I saw one cut from a bar injury and one patient who had run a snowmobile into a tree, but nothing related to a car accident," said Winn. Sadowsky said the number of patients at the Fark City Emergency Center dropped off on New Year's Day. "I get the feeling people are starting to leave," he said. by Nan C halat The Christmas holiday has been good for local business. Unfortunately it has kept Park City's doctors busy too. Both the Holy Cross Family Health and Emergency Center and the Park City Emergency Center set patient records between Christmas Christ-mas ana iew Year s. "I'd estimate that we saw 10 percent more patients than we did at this time last year," said Dr. Robert Winn of the Holy Cross clinic. "We had our busiest weekday and our busiest Saturday Satur-day and Sunday ever." Jeff Sadowsky, physician's assistant at the Park City Emergency Center, said Christmas Christ-mas Eve and Dec. 28 were the busiest days the clinic has ever seen. "And all the other days were close to the record," he added. Ski injuries ;md cold-related symptoms accounteu lor most of the complaints at both clinics. |
