Show B r MB-- - - The ski's the limit in Park Gity thefts v The Park City Police Department has been buried in investigations and paperwork paper-work stemming from an avalanche of minor traffic accidents during the snowy tourist-laden Christmas week. Beyond the traffic problems, a bank of ski thefts graced the police blotter for the past seven days along with some lewdness, lewd-ness, Park City style. During the early morning hours on the day before Christmas, Park City police officers observed a 22-year-old Coalville man staggering down Main Street. According Accord-ing to the police report, the subject was falling over snow banks and was nearly run over by a snow plow. The officers noted that the man had a strong odor of alcohol on his breath and had urinated in his pants. The subject had difficulty deciding decid-ing which town he lived in, according to the report. He was transported to Coalville and booked into the county jail. On Christmas eve, a 35-year-old Park City man was cited for lewdness (public urination). While on routine patrol police officers observed the man in Swede Alley urinating by a pickup truck. Police officers placed a spot light on the man, at which time he gestured to the police with his middle finger, according to the report. The subject was "obviously intoxicated" and "verbally abusive," according accord-ing to the report. He was issued a citation and transported trans-ported to his home on Rossi Hill. Douglas Hastings of Long Beach, California reported a lost wallet to the Park City Police Department on Dec. 22. He said that he lost the wallet in the vicinity of the Holiday Village Mall. The wallet is described as a blue nylon three fold wallet containing $500 in large bills and numerous credit cards. On Dec. 21, Brian Orr of Atlanta, Georgia reported that his skis were stolen from the bottom of the Three Kings chair lift at the Park City Ski Area. The skis are described as gray and red Rossignols, 150 centimeters in length. Orr said the skis . were rented with the rental number 8028 printed on them. But he added that he didn't know where they were rented from. Orr is 12 years old. Property damage was reported re-ported to the Park City Police Department by Bren-da Bren-da Harms of the Snowcrest Condominiums. According to a neighbor at Snowcrest, someone had tried to enter the apartment between noon and 2 p.m. on Dec. 21. According to the neighbor's report, a female was yelling and kicking at the door. Minor damage was caused to the door frame. Sheila Haloff, of the Rugged Elegance store at 608 Main St., reported on Dec. 20 that some one had stolen $172 from the cash drawer during the night. The suspect is believed to have entered the building through the rear door next to the Mother Karen's store. It is not known at this time if any clothing was taken from either store. On Dec. 26, Julie Updyke, Laquinta, California, reported re-ported clothing was stolen from the Star Hotel at the top of Main Street. According Accord-ing to the report, Updyke left a box full of clothing near the entrance of the hotel as she was preparing to leave for the laundromat. The clothes are valued at $557. A Scarsdale, New York man, Dave Marqulies reported re-ported to the police that on Dec. 26 his skis were stolen from a wooden rack on the ski area plaza. The skis are described as Dynastar Ome-softs Ome-softs with Look N57 bindings. bind-ings. They are valued at $450, according to the report. Gary Aliengena of Mission Viejo, California reported on Dec. 26 that while his rental car was parked in the ski area parking lot, the ski rack along with two Chrismas presents were taken. Aliengena Alien-gena told police he didn't know the value of the rack because it belonged to Budget Bud-get Rent-A-Car. A Mexico City resident, Julio Escandon, also reported re-ported on Dec. 26 that his skis along with a pair belonging to a family member mem-ber were stolen from the ski area plaza while the two went into the Rusty Nail. The skis are described as one pair of Rossignol SM Comps, 186 centimeters in length with Salomon 727 bindings and one pair of Rossignol FP Comps, 190 centimeters in length also mounted with Salomon 727 bindings. Brian Ferguson, an Emigration Emi-gration Canyon resident, reported to Park City Police on Dec. 26 that sometime between Dec. 20 and Christmas Christ-mas day ski equipment was stolen from his car while it was parked in the Silver Lake parking lot. Missing is one pair of Nordica boots valued at $275, one Anorak gortex pullover jacket valued at $95 and one pair of Scott goggles valued at $35. On Dec. 21, Susan Koh of Los Angeles, California reported re-ported that her Rossignol skis with Tyrolia bindings and her Look ski poles were stolen from the ski area plaza. The equipment is valued at $200. |
