Show Golden Eagles Sign 2 Players Two more amateur performers perform perform- ers have been signed to tryout agreements by the Salt Lake Golden Eagles professional hockey team DONNIE Phelps a year 23 old winger who has played for the Drumheller Alberta Miners senior team the past two seasons and Billy Moores who a year old wing center has played for the Edmonton Oil Kings Junior A Au club for the past four years Both have impressive scoring records records records rec rec- with their respective teams Phelps a small youngster at 7 5 and pounds but a I fiery competitor this past season was the third leading scorer on his team with 1 13 goals and 26 28 assists for 45 points in 43 games He added three goals and an assist for four points in five pastI past- past I season games I In 68 1967 with the Miners I Phelps tallied 18 goals and added 19 assists for 37 points in 48 games In 19 playoff games he scored seven goals and five assists for 12 points MOORES also on the tiny side at 7 5 and tallied 29 goals and 35 assists for 64 points for the Oil Kings in 69 1968 1968 9 after showing totals of 22 goals 25 assists and 47 points in 1967 Both of these boys are very aggressive in spite of their small stature said Golden Eagle coach Ray in announcing their s signings They fill the bill in regard to the type of player we have in mind for our club namely fast skaters who like to hit and wont won't back down from any any- one WHILE NOT as experienced as some of the other players we are dealing for I feel both Moores and Phelps stand an excellent chance of making our club when final time comes this fall Certainly with their spunk and enthusiasm enthusiasm enthusiasm they are excellent prospects for the future and we are indeed happy to have them in the fold the Eagle mentor concluded |
