Show l- . . . l Premature Baby Born Here Finally Gets to Go Home After spending two and one-half months in the intensive care unit at Salt Lake's University of Utah Hospital, young David Petereit has finally been allowed to go home to his parents last Wednesday.', Wednesday. The infant was born February 2 under emergency conditions at the Park City Clinic. The first baby born in the clinic, he was delivered by Dr. Thomas Schwenk, who was assisted by Dr. Robert Winn. Weighing only two pounds at birth, tiny David was rushed by a life flight helicopter to the University of Utah Hospital where he remained until a week ago. At birth, David's prognosis was questionable at best, but when he was released to his parents Wednesday, his doctors pronounced he was "doing very well". "He weighs 5 pounds, 3 ounces and everything look very good," said Dr. Robert Winn of the Park City Clinic. The drama of David's birth began early the morning of February 2 when his mother Glenda Petereit went into premature labor at their . . home in Evanston. After calling the University Hospital where she planned to deliver her baby, she and her husband Robert began the 80 mile trip to Salt Lake. At Echo, Mrs. Peteriet's labor advanced, which required the couple to call the Summit County Sheriff. The sheriff notified Park City . EMT's who met the Petereit's at Silver Creek. Mrs. Petereit was immediately transported to the clinic by ambulance. David was delivered minutes later. His life at the time was credited to the hasty response of the EMTs and to the two doctors, Winn and Schwenk. |
