While on loan from USUI Ms. Boskoff will, assist the Council's Community Outreach Out-reach Program, in r providing field services to Utah V rural areas. While in that capacity she was credited with establishing an identity for the arts and artists of Montgomery Montgom-ery County, no small task for a suburb of i Washuigtim. ; ..D;C'.? She earned a Bf S. in Dance Education from the University of Maryland; end taught and choreographed extensively in the Washington area. She also served as the Administrator and Director, of the' dance program for Sign of the Times, a community arts center in northeast Washington. . Ms. Boskoff comments on her new position, "I'm very glad that the Utah Arts Council, has such a well-developed well-developed community arts effort, especially coming from Washington where so much emphasis is placed on the city. The; experience of art is as important to those residing in small communities as to those in large cities.' . The Utah Arts Council's Community Outreach Pror gram,' directed by Lyn Waring, War-ing, is committed to promoting promot-ing higher quality of life for Utah's citizens through the arts. The program currently sponsors the Utah Rural Arts Consortium Your, which 'last year presented performing arts experiences to over 41 ,000 people throughout the state. Community Outreach also provides on-site consultations, consult-ations, skills; development worVshbpsf anii semi-annually awards challenge grants to community-based arts organizations. |
