Show Coach's Final Words by Kathy Maynes, Eagles Coach Hi there. You know me, I'm a ball. No. not your regular kind of ball. I'm a SOCCER BALL! That's right; the new ball in town that you see on all the TV commercials. . I'm feeling pretty good these days. After all. I'm part of the fastest growing sport around. Hey, I know what you're probably? thinking. "That ball thinks- he's something some-thing pretty special." Well, why not? Park City seems to think I'm hot! I've made a lot of friends here and I would like you to ! get to know them too.. I'd like you to meet little Paige.' She's" on the Under 8' team." What a gal! And, Zak; a terrific guy (love that hat too)! Can't go without saying Hi to Corbin West. He may be little but WOW what effort he puts but! Did I forget to mention the Worley brothers? Best goalies in Park City. v: IT I had a Jiat it would go off to the girls , team. Did you know that they like me so much that they played in 3 games last Saturday? It must be love!! It's not bad being kicked around, but the fun really starts when I'm out on the field with the U-14s and the U-16s. What skill in passing, and those head balls. Terrific! Yes, Soccer Players, you're at your best here in Park City. But we couldn't do it alone. Remember those coaches who give it their best and teach you all you know. They encourage -you. and wipe those tears when the elbows and knees get skinned. Lots of credit should go to Mom and Dad too. Always there to haul you to the game, then cheer you on win or lose. Don't forget the referees. Ah yes, the trusty few (all volunteers) who keep the spirit of the game going. These people in black will k always be there, rain, snow or sun , (mostly snow). Did you know that Refs get thirsty at half time too? Kids when you're out kicking me . around, include your folks, really, ( they like to plav - tocC Just ask'. Jt's been a, great pleasure : being out, there on' the field with all you guys and gals, sharing all the fun of the game. I've been to a lot of towns and a lot of games, but I want to say Thanks & Congratulations for showing the good Sportmanship ' that you do. When I see that, it makes me proud to be part of your favorite sport! Well players, summer's here, and our spring season is over, but don't lock me away in the closet. Keep on practicing and perfecting those skills, and we'll be together in the fall. I can hardly wait! |
