The Chamber of Commerce recently gave i KPCW $835 received from the Western Round-Up Auction held at The Claimjumper. "We'd also like to thank Bob Williams for his $500 contribution," said Mr. Feulner. "The Board of Trustees wishes to thank everyone for their support," Mr. Feulner said. "We realize it's taken longer than most people thought, but we stayed with it, - and we're going to do it." The Board of Trustees of Park City's community-sup- -ported, non-profit radio station, sta-tion, Community Wireless, received word this week from the Federal Communications Commission that its call letters will be "KPCW". The FCC chose Wanship-resident Wanship-resident Lloyd High's entry from a field of five finalists in Community Wireless' "Kail Letter Kontest." The contest attracted one hundred entries in all. The letters KPCW won because the other four final entries were already taken by west coast stations. "Anything that had to do with skiing or mining (such as , KSKI or KSNO) were taken by ' other ski resort stations," said Blair Feulner, President of the Board of Trustees of Community Commun-ity Wireless, Mr. Feulner said he is looking forward to seeing the station go on the air sometime in June, however, he added the station still needed to raise $4,000, "If we get $4,000, we could be on the air the first part of j June," he said. "I'm vprv confident we'll be on the air sometime in June." The station's transmitter is on site, and Mr. Feulner said Community Wireless recently filed for a miner change with the FCC which effectuated moving the antenna 1,200 feet from the tramway tower above the Coalition Building to the chimney in back of the Memorial Building. Community Commun-ity Wireless will have 250 watts of power. "Our coverage calculations," calcula-tions," Mr. Feulner said, . indicate we'll have good signal over all Park City limits. And there's a very good chance we'll have a strong signal into Park West, Snyder- ville and Summit Park." The FCC accepted the local station's application to place a translator on Lewis Peak, possibly sometime in the fall, which would give coverage to all of Wasatch and Summit Counties. The volunteer workshops, Tuesdays .and Thursdays from 4 to 8:00pm in the Memorial Building, will continue, said Mr. Feulner, adding he and |
