Show club renovation, expansion plans The planning commission last week heard plans for restoration of Main Street's Club Saloon and adjoining Shirt Shop, which would be converted to a seafood restaurant. Owner Joe Buehler told the commission the plans, drawn up by preservation architect Allen Roberts, would make few changes to The Club. He said a balcony "would be added, spanning both buildings, and the front of The Club would be "opened up" to let in more light. The Shirt Shop building, which would house a restaurant called the Pelican Seafood Company, is designed to be a mirror image of The Club, including addition of a second story false front. Buehler said a full second story may be built next year to house a private club and oyster bar. The plans were well received by the commission. "It's a nice job," said commissioner Roy Reynolds. "Well done." |
