Show :-oi(Kr's Policy Conf erence The , Western Governors" Policy Office (WESTPO) representing a total of eleven Western states will hold it's annual conference In Park City, Utah this year beginn-ing beginn-ing Wednesday, September 3 and ending Friday, September Sep-tember 5. :... Between two hundred and fifty and three hundred people are expected to attend the policy making conference, Specific areas of discussion plan to be energy, the MX Missle proposal, and Z watefrlghts arid availability. The theme of the conference confer-ence will be "the West and the 80s V and the conference promises to attract national lobbyist besides the governors govern-ors and their staffs) Because this is an election year attendence at the conference is expected to greater and to include possibly the presidential presi-dential hopefuls; Jimmy Carter (if, nominated) and either Ronald Reagan or running mate George Bush. . ! Local co-ordinator for the conference councilwoman Tina Lewis, feels the convention conven-tion represents a certain coming of age for Park City. "This is the kind of conference I see coming more and more to Park City; a prestigeous national conference. con-ference. This will really give Park City a chance to shine. Many of the lobbyists will be representing groups that could be future clients for Park City; we'd like to see these people come back and bring conventions here.' Tina Lewis pointed out this .was not a party or vacation type convention for. the . governors but rather a working conference with meetings scheduled throughout through-out and, little free time. But his is also apparently a group of young governors who will oe bringing with them their wives and children, and plans are being readied to help entertain them. 44 We hope to have some workshops offered at the Kimball Art Center fin; the wives and the children as well.
