Show Rock Hunters Meet Tragic Death Tuesday 3 Miles East of Francis Three Ogden residents met tragic deatli while on an excursion ex-cursion to find horn coral on the Wilcox Claim in Moon Cay-yon Cay-yon three miles east of Francis. Fran-cis. Summit County Sheriff Ron Robinson identified the three as: Clive W. Ingram, 55, 1034 Douglas; Doug-las; Roscoe M. Palmar, 63, 239 North Wall and Chris Palmer, Palm-er, 15, 2105 Polk. The youth was the grandson of Roscoe M. Palmer and the son of Sidney Palmer of Ogden. Sheriff Robinson said the trio left Ogden at approximately 5:30 a.m. Monday morning. Sheriff Robinson stated the two searchers had known where the three were going to be rock hunting. Upon arriving at the scene at 2 a.m. Tuesday Mr. Palmerand Mr. Doxey located the truck and lunches nearby that belonged to the three victims. They found the area where the three had been digging and found a hand sticking up from beneath be-neath the surface. Sheriff Robinson 'said the hand was that of Chris Palmer who was evidently closest to the surface when the cave-in occurred. Mr. Palmer immediately began be-gan digging and Mr. Doxey went to the Herman Cooley ranch to summon aid. He called the Salt Lake Highway Patrol dispatch er who in turn notified the Summit County Sheriff's Department De-partment Communications Center. Cen-ter. Sheriff Robinson and Deputies Leon Wilde and Fred Eley arrived ar-rived on the scene together with Clarence Mitchell. Mr. Mitchell owns a backhoe and was summoned to the scene by Sheriff Robinson to aid in recovery efforts. According to the Sheriff an apparent mistake in identifying identify-ing the location as the Cld Quartz mine near Woodland had resulted in the notification of Wasatch County Sheriff Floyd Witt. Sheriff Witt had checked further and found out where the mishap had taken place and arrived with his deputy Far-rell Far-rell Payne. Sheriff Robinson stated the Wasatch law officers were extremely ex-tremely helpful in recovery efforts. ef-forts.
