Park City School District Investigating Possibility of Establishing Parent-Child Toy- Lending Library of his time assigned to thepro-- thepro-- gram; four Toy Library Teacher Teach-er Training Workshops have been conducted; and each school implementing the program has had one to five follow-up visits. By June 1973, it is hoped that 20 school districts in Utah will be implementing the Parent Child Toy Library. Mrs. Pickett, the Marsac Elementary Kindergarten teacher, will go to a special meeting in Ogden next month and receive special training to initiate in-itiate the program. The Park City School District Dis-trict is investigating the possibility pos-sibility of establishing a Parent-Child Toy Lending Library. Dr. Jay Hainsworth from the Utah State School Board office gave a presentation about the program to local school leaders earlier this week. The Parent-Child Toy Library Lib-rary was developed by the Far West Labratory for Educational Research and Development for parents or pre-school children. The program is designed to: Help children feel better about themselves; Help children develop skills and problem -solving abilities. Help parents have an important im-portant voice in deciding how schools teach their children. The Parent-Child Toy Library Lib-rary teaches parents to use toys and games at home with their children to develop the children's chil-dren's intellectual abilities. In an eight-week course (about one hour a week) the parent is -taught how to respond to the child's interest in the games, how to let the child set his pace, and how to guide him without pressure. After completing com-pleting the course, parents are free to borrow these toys, just as one would borrow a book from a library. For each toy, there are easy-to-follow directions for several learn-activities that teach specific concepts and skills. The Adult Education and Training Division of the State Board of Education is incorporating incor-porating the Toy Library Program Pro-gram as a component of the Utah Early Childhood Education Program.
