Show 30 Travel Agenls Visi! Park To Inspect Fine Ski Facilities This past week saw the arrival ar-rival of some 30 travel agents from Phoenix, Tucson and southern California for a visit to the Salt Lake Valley. The tour was co-sponsored by Hughes Airwest. Mr. Garth Pymn, Visitors Director of the Salt Lake Valley Convention and Visitors Visit-ors Bureau, hosted the group upon arrival at Salt Lake International Airport to an overnight stay at Little Am erica. The next morning brought a breakfast and presentation by the Convention and Visitor's Visit-or's Bureau. The group was further treated to a driving tour of Salt Lake Valley and downtown hotel properties. prop-erties. A luncheon presentation and tour of the facilities was provided by Snowbird Resort where the travel a-gents a-gents were treated to a tram ride. Later that afternoon the group was hosted by the Park City Resort Company and the Utah Travel Council for a tour of historic Park City and the facilities available there. The purpose of the travel agent tour was to expose the fine facilities available inthe Valley for package skiing plans and other mini vacations. vaca-tions. Mr. Pymn noted that there has been a tremendous increase in skiing in the Wasatch Front area. Much of this increased interest and traffic has been generated through such tours as this one. The Bureau has provided pro-vided a continuous program for both travel agents, travel writers and journalists. Later this year the Convention Con-vention and Visitors Bureau will embark on a massive effort of publicity for theSalt Lake ski resorts and the facilities fac-ilities available in the Valley for ski vacations and tours. This effort which is financed as a joint effort by the Bureau the Utah Travel Council, and private sectors of the transportation trans-portation and hotel facility community will include representation rep-resentation of Salt Lake at several ski shows throughout through-out the United States, the extensive ex-tensive use of broadcast and print media related to the ski industry, and the presentation presenta-tion of the Bureau's brand new ski film. |
