Show Park Students May Enter Poster Contest Students in Park City High School have been told that a national poster contest for high school students with the theme "Hire A Veteran", was announced an-nounced by Donald E. Johnson, Administrator of Veterans Affairs. Af-fairs. Saving bonds will be awarded to local and state winners throughout the country. The local and state competitions will eventually produce' three national na-tional winners who will receive re-ceive trips to the nation's capital cap-ital in October. Local and state veterans groups and other service organ- izations will be asked to participate partic-ipate in the contest in their localities, Johnson said. The three national winners will be Johnson's personal guests at the annual Veterans Day national observance at Arlington Ar-lington National Cemetery on Monday, October 23. Johnson is chairman of the President's Veterans Day national committee. commit-tee. The national winners as VIPs will be treated to other awards and events while in Washington. Johnson is enlisting the aid of state governors and commissioners com-missioners of education. Information In-formation is being mailed to school principals so that the contest can get underway promptly when schools open after the summer vacation. Students (in grades 9-12) in public, parochial and private schools are eligible. Poster sizes will be restricted to 17 x 22 inches. Johnson said he hopes during their summer vacation students stu-dents will give thought to the poster contest even sketching their ideas in preparation for the return to school and the start of the contest. |
