Sullivan, stopped off on his way to work at the Park Record office Friday morning, June 25, to sign the 4th of July Proclamation noting the 195th anniversary of the founding of this nation and proclaimings un-day, un-day, July 4, as "Honor America Day". Because the 4th actually falls on a Sunday this year, the country is stressing the spiritual spirit-ual needs and blessings of the land. PROCLAMATION The Fourth of July will-mark the 195th anniversary of the founding of our nation. As we celebrate this historic date, our nation is faced with its greatest great-est challenge; a burgeoning population, pop-ulation, restless youth impatient im-patient for fulfillment of our nation's ideals, demands for greater civil rights, and the sapping of our country's moral strength through increased crime, drug abuse and poverty. Communities' throughout the nation are declaring this Independence In-dependence Day, July 4th, as "Honor America Day" in an effort ef-fort to encourage an expression of appreciation for the blessings and greatness of our country. It is the opinion of this office that this 'activity should be recognized as an effort to unite Americans at a time when our patriotism and respect for the nation's purposes should be encouraged en-couraged by all responsible citizens. cit-izens. Therefore, by virtue of the powers vested in this office, I William P. Sullivan, Mayor of Park City, Utah, do hereby proclaim Sunday, July 4, 1971, as "Honor America Day" and call upon all citizens, organizations, organiza-tions, churches, schools and lay groups to recognize this special day through appropriate programs. pro-grams.
