Show Woman's Athenaeum Club Plans 75th Anniversary Party Soon ject for a whole year's study. Today each program is self-contained. self-contained. It was with regret that the letter of resignation from the president, Mrs. Melvin Bart-schi, Bart-schi, was accepted. She has recently moved to Leeds, Utah. Mrs. Paul Hamilton, first vice-president vice-president assumed the office of president for the remainder of the club year. A most interesting and informative in-formative program was presented pre-sented at the Woman's Athenaeum Athen-aeum on Monday, January 24, by two of its most dedicated members, Mrs. Clements Hansen Han-sen and Mrs. E. J. McPolin, who outlined the highlights of the early years of the club. Organized in February of 1897 no minute books are available before 1903 but these detailed many and varied activities of the club which will celebrate its 75th anniversary on February 28 with a dinner meeting at the Memorial Building. Athenaeum has always worked work-ed for a clean and sanitary community. The members were instrumental in starting the first garbage collection service for Park City back in 1906. In 1911 they took up the battle to do away with the common drinking drink-ing cup in schools. And in later years a real triumph was theirs when they succeeded in having built separate buildings for boys and girls out-houses at school! Heretofore, facilities had been combined in one small building build-ing with only a thin partition between the two! In early days the club concentrated con-centrated on one particular sub- |
