Show Plans Made for Food Stamp Sale Mr. Roy Cooper, Director if the Office of Assistance Payments Administration, advised Mr. Paul S. Rose, Executive Director of the Department of Social Services, Ser-vices, today that plans were completed for selling all food stamps by mail effective November 1, 1973. The food stamp program enables low-income families to increase their food buying buy-ing power by investing their own money in Federal food coupons (food stamps) worth more than they paid. The coupons are then spent like cash for food at authorized retail food outlets. Mr. Cooper is particularly particular-ly concerned that people will be delayed in getting their food stamps if they continue to go to the post offices after November 1, 1973. Participants will now have two ways of. buying food stamps. Those in the "food stamp only" program will be required re-quired to send a cashier's check or money order and their Authorization to Purchase Pur-chase (ATP) card directly to the Utah Food Stamp Office, Box 327, Salt Lake City, Utah 84110. Persons receiving a . money grant need only complete com-plete the withholding form which authorizes the Office to deduct the cost of their food stamps from their money grant. They can get the authorization forms at their, local Assistance Payments Pay-ments Offices. Participants are cautioned caution-ed not to send in their ID cards. Instructions sent with Authorization to Purchase cards in September and October Oc-tober 'should be carefully read and followed. The "bonus" coupons received re-ceived by participants make possible greater food supplies sup-plies and more nutritious meals. |
