P Sullivan presided over this meeting Councilmen present were Art Durante Bud Gasparac Gail Kummer and Rick Martinez Councilman Dean Boyle was ex excused excused excused ex- ex because of work Attorney Mary Lehmer Marshal Wm Ryan and Supervisor John Georgio were also present Minutes of the previous meeting meeting meeting meet meet- ing were read and approved after two additions Mayor Several me members m be r s of the Chamber of Commerce were present to sit through the meet meet- ing Two representatives from the Intermountain Television Co were present to discuss improving improving improving im im- proving the television system They reported they could install new transistorized units for ap approximately approximately approximately ap- ap proximately 1300 per unit The County is presently contemplating contemplating con con- on installation of a wide county-wide system but the majority of the Council felt this might not mature for some time and in the meantime our present system should be improved Testing for fot a new site was also discussed but it w was was s decided this could not be done this time of year Getting a a new site would involve ge getting ground also Councilman Durante Suggest Suggested ed getting one one transistorized unit for Channel Four to see ee what improvement it made and then getting the other two later Councilman Kummer stated if all those who had not paid paid- their 30 assessment would now pay the there r e would be enough money to pay for the improve improve- ments Councilman Martinez said he felt the people who had already paid for the assessment should not have to pay again until all others paid their share Councilman Durante moved to have the whole system surveyed and recommendations made for forthe forthe forthe the necessary improvements Councilman Gasparac seconded the motion and it carried un un- un Mrs Niles Andrus came to the meeting to ask again for help in getting a room for a Museum She said the room they were now using h had d to be vacated immediately and the articles they have would have to be stored in some safe place Mayor Sullivan asked the City Property Committee to meet with Mrs Andrus and check into several places that had been menti mentioned ned as possibilities Mr Niles Andrus informed the council that complaints had been made about the traffic signs on Street It seems it is is' confusing to many people Mayor Sullivan stated he had always al always always al- al ways felt Street should be one way down only M Mr Martinez and Mr Kummer felt this would cut off residents who use the road every day A discussion was held and it was finally decided that Street would be designated as a one way street Signs will be put putto putto putto to this effect Larger signs than those already ad er erected t will willbe be used Mayor Sullivan sug suggested getting temporary signs painted until metal ones can be ordered Council agreed A motion was made and passed passed passed pas pas- sed to buy cylinders for the oxygen oxygen oxy oxy- gen and acetylene used by the Street Crew An application for an art shop license submitted by Scott Simmerman was approved by a unanimous vote The license will be granted upon payment of the license fee Parking in Deer Valley and Daly Avenue Empire Canyon will win also be on the west side of the street only These two streets were left out in the parking notice last week A lengthy discussion was was held heldon on the on-the the building permits and zoning zoning zoning zon zon- ing restrictions The Council asked for a notice to be put in the Park Record asked for applications for a building inspector stating the qualifications for the position A discussion was held on the snow removal problem Only one bid for removing the snow has been received Another meeting with the b businesspeople business businesspeople u s i n e s s people will be called to advise them of the bid and to get their reaction and suggestions Councilman Kummer reported report report- ed the city is without snow snowplow snowplow- plowing plow plow- ing lug equipment He stated most of the old equipment is beyond repair One truck is being re repaired repaired repaired re- re paired in Salt Lake but there is isa isa isa a need for more and better equipment He has contacted most of the truck places in Salt Lake Lak and they cannot deliver a anew
